Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

More like my sister’s room keeper. Over the phone I accidentally referred to the room as mine and she was pretty cheesed off haha. I can’t wait for to get back and we can do all the touristy stuff. Places I would like to go – USS, River Safari.. okay thats about it for now.
Had a good weekend as usual. Saturday was half work and half play. Did my usual rounds in orchard with J and had dinner. We went to Paul for dessert and I love the chocolate cake. Creamy chocolate layered with pastry called.. Mallifiete or something. haha. Nothing too spectacular on saturday..
And of course today… I love rainy sundays though my favourite coffee shop was flooded. I could see the jadedness written all over my dad’s face as the ankle-level flood at the coffee shop dashed all hopes of porridge. oh well. Next week I guess. With no more cell group on Sunday’s (now Fridays), I’ll have more time with my family.
I’m proud to say that today is such an awesome day because its the first time in a very long while that I’ve used an umbrella that I’ve brought. I constantly lament how I always bring an umbrella and it never rains. I know its quite sick but when I heard the sound of thunder in the chapel I was like OH YEAH!! I brought an umbrella! Jubilation…
Unfortunately my joy was short lived because I was to attend C’s nephew’s and niece’s birthday party which is by the pool. I ate so much and had a lot of fun… Maybe some photos soon
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
- Hebrews 12: 1-3
Many times at work, a lot of situations and circumstances that we are wrapped in are just out of control. Its so easy to get blinded by all the permutations and combinations that defines the possibility of a failure. I guess this verse reminds me to fix my eyes on Jesus and not the problem. (On a side note, this is a very good way to keep sane). In fact, on one of my craziest engagements, my non-christian colleague told me she felt that people who have religions are better off because they have a pillar of strength to hold on to.
Honestly, it through the craziness that I have seen the protection of God, (yes even from Murphy’s law) and its amazing how certain things worked out, always for the better.
To an awesome work week ahead!
Wish: To collect enough teddy bears to line them across my piano
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. – Galatians 5:22-26
A good time to do some personal evaluation. HAHA. Personally, I think all 7 are interrelated, but I feel I am especially lacking in is self-control, patience, goodness and gentleness. Especially gentleness. Honestly, I don’t carry myself too well as a lady but I must say I’ve improved. Perhaps less touch rugby has helped, though the season is starting soon…
Targets
1) Catch up with people I don’t meet too often.
2) Remembering birthdays and putting in effort to write a card
3) Be less “dormant” in the professional setting.
Number 3 is pretty interesting. I haven’t been too hardworking in building relationships with my colleagues. Mainly because most engagements last around 2-3 weeks and its just tiring after a while to get to know people. In a nutshell, I am getting lazy in getting to know people better on a short term basis.
I was disappointed to know that my sister will not be returning to Singapore this Friday. And she has postponed her flight till 3 weeks later. GASPS. =( I was looking forward to her coming home… WITH ALL MY SHOPPING. hahahaha.
Goodnight world…
To an awesome week at work! Nothing beats a cheerful spirit at work
Its so terrible to be sick. First my knee, now a high fever. Is this ever going to end haha. Anyway its through the occasional sickness that reminds me of my mortality and sometimes I just have to take it easy. In the clinic, I was thinking about how to outsource my work to the manila office (Outsourcing.. pains and gains). And I was thinking of what time I should get to office tomorrow etc… I cannot even begin to say how thankful I am for free medical care. Honestly, the doctors at Parkway Shenton all seem to know what they are doing. (been to the one at Shenton way and the one at Marine Parade).
Hope its not dengue, so I’m praying hard for my fever to subside by tomorrow, if not will be going for the test! Still trying to get my fever down, dousing the heat with water. Going to rest well tonight and chiong my work tomorrow.
Psy’s new hit is pretty awesome, though I hear a familiar gangnam tune at the back. Or it could be just me.
GOING TO SLEEP. GOODNIGHT =)
Lest I forget Gethsemane
Lest I forget thine agony
Lest I forget thy love for me
Lead me to Calvary
While on the cab to work I was very touched by Solomon’s prayer for wisdom.
7 “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 14 And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” 15 Then Solomon awoke—and he realized it had been a dream. – 1 Kings 3: 7-15
Sometimes when I pray for stuff (for a lack of better words, includes people, random strays etc) I wonder is God please? Or is he shaking his head. Do I desire for the things that are best for me or what the world tells me is the best for me. These days, “the world” has a myriad of opinions (sometimes in conflict with one another), but in general blended in unison resonating that more is good and even more is better. From growth to consumerism, from money to fancy cars and jetplanes – more more more. And perhaps my prayers too are about having more, becoming more awesome in this, more capable in that, more talent please.
Just a random contemplation. 3:03am. Time for bed! YAY!
Goodnight world….
An extremely fulfilling and conveniently long weekend. I better type everything out before I forget!
A very good Friday – Woke up at 7am to have breakfast with my parents. Its been some time since I had fresh prata and a piping hot teh tarik (not the Chinese teh coffee shop type). Authentic teh tarik. Headed home and begun re-organizing. Met my cell mates for tea and continued on with an Easter outreach and JH’s house. Which is an awesome house!
Just to side step a little. I used to be as neat as a pin and I was pretty organized and standing on the 85th percentile for cleanliness. I’m not a super clean freak, but clean suffice. However, as time went by, consumption habits set in, lazy practices kicked in and I’ve begun to live in a very untidy mess. Many people have been to my place but only few have set foot in my bed room. The last friend that I willingly permitted to enter was in Sec 4. (Of course there’s the occasional friend like M who barge their way in to satisfy their curiosity) hahaha.
Just FYI. At this point of writing this post, I have thrown out 10-12 bags (large shopping back size) of random stuff – Books, notes, stuff toys, old bags, clothes and packed away 4 bags of clothes to be given away. And my “neat index”, I would dare say I am back to pre-JC standards.
I realize what a poor steward I have been of what God has blessed me with. Sigh… Anyway I will be doing up the room proper. Not sure how I am suppose to finish repainting and the installations before my sister flies home in 3 weeks. haha Excited!
Saturday – My friends and I checked out a pretty awesome brunch placed tucked away in a corner along Tanglin road. I love the crab cake with eggs benedict. It was awesome. However, I felt the bread at Antionette tasted better and strangely Antionette is more value for money haha. But you get a really rustic feel at Spruce, reservations are a must and a car for transportation is a plus! I think I will do a brunch list soon =P I think I shall head down to this new place I spotted along Siglap hehe.
My friends followed me to Ikea to look for stuff. To cut the long story short, I went to Alexandra to look and Tampines to buy. Initially I was quite hesitant to do the shopping alone at Tampines. I guess working life has made me more decisive, but prior to that, is the planning phase which I did the day before. I bought a whole cart of stuff and my parents came to pick me up! haha. Couldn’t wait to get crackin’ to re-do my room.
Resurrection Sunday – Another Easter outreach with my cell group this time. Made new friends and enjoyed the good food
Went to meet up with some other SMU friends from CCC. And then headed to K’s for a BBQ with my smu course mates. AWESOME. Strangely its like SMU was a very distant memory. Thank God for these friends
This Easter was like no other because this is the first time I really sat back and reflected on what Jesus did for us on the cross. Well more on that the next time. It deserves a post by itself and not to be slabbed between paragraphs of my weekend summary.
Goodnight world
My wounds hurt so badly. Caved and went straight to the doctor’s on monday. My goodness. Anyway I nearly died when the doctor was rubbing out the dirt (gross) stuck in my wound because I did such a poor job the day before. IT HURT……
Anyway the taxi driver today asked me how I got injured.. I said I fell while running and he laughed. Actually its pretty funny. I’m so clumsy…… For the record there wasn’t a half naked guy with a 6 pac who caused the fall. I assure you, if there was one I would fall for him (Pun intended, a poor but apt one!).
1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me. - Psalm 13
Can’t wait for Easter. Goodnight
I was having nothing short of an awesome day.. Triple dose of church – morning service, bible study, followed by China service (oh yes that too). Went home and headed off for my run. I’ve signed up for my first marathon. Mainly because its free and I don’t believe in paying $$ to run a distance that I can near my home. Yes, one of the perks of a beach side apartment.
Just as I was about to wrap up my run with 1 last round I tripped and fell. My knee looks so bad and it smells like iron because its so bloody and they are on fire. (My legs were never this hot aRGHHHH!) I wanted to go to the doctor, but it was kind of late so decided to self-medicate with whatever I could find in NTUC.
Anyway all I hope and pray for is that it won’t get infected. Scrapping out the dirt from the wounds is necessary but so painful
and its quite gross honestly. haha
To another awesome week. WOOHOO
*Does a cartwheel!! Purely in my imagination.
GOODNIGHT!
The weekend was awesome, cant believe it’s over. Haha
Here’s a summary
Friday night: dinner with a the same gang and our “long-lost” friend haha. We were spoilt with cheap white wine and hilarious stories.
Sat was an excellent catch-up day
Lunch with claudy, followed by a baking session with J! Her dad asked me which guy I’m baking for because the last friend of hers who came over baked a tiramisu for her bf. hahaha. Well I’m not that blessed yet, but I can bless my own tummy in the mean time
earl grey chiffon cake! It was okay. Haha and I learned quite a lot from the domestic goddess! We headed over to orchard for shopping, dinner at taste paradise and gelato for dessert. Spent a bomb on food man. Zzz. And then met KW at night for some supper.
Sunday: Spent time after church hunting for a new phone with my grandmother. Given my struggle with my mother tongue, explaining all the functions of a SIII mini did not happen hahaha. I arrowed the sales guy and he didn’t have the easiest time lol. But of course we felt it was pointless getting a phone with apps she won’t use most of the apps and wound up buying some archaic Nokia possibly manufactured a decade ago. I was stumped to know it cost $48 without a contract. Well glad we managed to settle one matter.
I hate being so tardy with my bills. I just realized I forgot to pay my credit card bill and there is an overdue surcharge of $50 which is like more than 50% of the total amount due. Haha. Well managed to cancel the overdue fee but I definitely don’t want this to happen again! Just don’t like missing deadlines.
I was quite inspired by the sermon today! And it sounds so exciting to be a missionary in Africa from snakes (gasps!) to the militants to the touching of lives over there. It’s amazing how God can enable people and how people, at the same time are willing to step up to their callings. On a side note, I would really want to go to Africa one day. All the animals in the world yay!
Well it’s time for bed and to start a new week! Cheers to a good week every one
Goodnight world.
Sometimes I think too much. Under thinking is a good way to go.
I woke up feeling like the biggest douche on this planet. Haven’t been sleeping well lately, since Sunday in fact. I am so tired, grumpy and angsty. Goodness.
Reflecting on my weaknesses
1) Cute kittens
2) Mellow sounding pianos
3) Thick juicy beef patties (medium rare) with a chilled beer. Beef & beer.
GOODNIGHT. I’m sucha grouch. haha.
